The best laid intentions…. Isn’t
there some sort of saying about that? I started this blog last spring with the
intention of offering a little piece of my life but mostly to help me make some
sense out of my life. Writing seems to do that for me.
So in April I started the blog and
immediately following my mom was diagnosed with liver cancer. My life from that
point on is a bit of a blur. My mom died on June 22nd 2010 and someday when I
feel so inclined I will share the story. For now suffice it to say that it was
one of the most difficult times of my life. Some days it still is. So bear with
me on this blog journey as I see where it goes. Share your thoughts and stories
with me and maybe together life will start to make more sense.
The sun is shining so brightly
today. It makes such a difference in my mood. I took my friend that I help
every week out to do his shopping. He is such a great guy. Typically when we
check out, I purchase my items or the sub we split and then I help him purchase
his groceries. It’s almost always the same routine with the checkout girl. I
pay cash for mine. The cashier is chit chatty and pleasant. I then help John
pay with his benefit card (aka food stamps) and the whole experience changes.
The cashier changes her tone. This transaction rarely includes the smile and
thank you I received when my transaction was done. Well today was different!
The woman that rang us out was equally pleasant to both of us. It may sound
crazy but those little things don’t go unnoticed and make such a difference in
life! It’s going to be a good day.
I’m trying out this new philosophy.
I am a huge worrier and as soon as I start I tell myself, “it will all work
out”. So far so good. Ignorance is bliss anyway so I figure I can’t lose,
right?
